[OOC] Application & Things

So let mercy come and wash away what I've done... )

Nov. 1st, 2009

I've chosen 'Black Velvet' as my exhibition number and going with something from "Phantom of the Opera" for my compulsory number.

They called.

Well, they called my answering service in Florida who passed along the message via email. I knew it was coming. Twenty-four years later, you'd think I could handle this. So, I sent a message back saying I'd go. They're even putting together an exhibition.

Michelle Kwan won't attempt a spot on the Olympic team this year because she wants to stay in school and work toward her Master's degree. Can't fault her for that, not even a little.

I don't understand why the media is making a big deal out of it, though I understand that in the skating world, it's huge news. Though she only took bronze in Salt Lake, she's still a big name and can bring the competition. She had her hip replaced, from what I remember, but...

I shouldn't even be caring about this. I don't care. Just waiting for that call. Every time...

I'm 37 today. I feel so old.

Ever do one of those things that you're not sure you should have done?

... I don't think 'do' is the right word for this, but you get the idea.

Men. Can't live with 'em and - well, why would you want to?

Link left the ship. It's not that I didn't see it coming.

No, that's not fair. I mean, really. He was still a really YOUNG guy. I kind of did it to myself. He came by last night to say that he was going to be hopping off the boat when SHE did and I can't say I'm surprised. Of course, it's not her fault, either. Just a really small ship for the two of them and he's just REALLY, really young.

I kind of wish I could have been more emotional about it, but like I said, I saw it coming. It'd been coming since the last time she was here and maybe, I'd been holding my breath (figuratively, anyway) since she'd been back. Who knows?

Girls, let this be a warning to you: The only guys you can depend on for sure are named Ben & Jerry and never date anyone younger than you with serious mommy issues.

Tonight will consist of drinking, probably heavily, since I don't have to work tomorrow. If anyone knows where I can find those two trustworthy men in ice cream form, you let your Chief Officer know. Thanks.

Dec. 22nd, 2008

I can't wait to escape the ship for two days for Christmas. A room in LA and a chance to do some actual shopping for myself? I'm looking forward to it like you wouldn't believe.

Link - You're coming with.

[CNN] Cruise ship strikes ice, stranded on Antarctic coast

PLEASE do not let [THIS] happen.

Nov. 16th, 2008

I have to admit that learning about the new ship has been something interesting. Yeah, I had tutors growing up, I didn't go to regular school. Reading and studying is something I've always liked and I have to say, this is an excursion I'm looking forward to.

Been missing you. Dinner?

Reykjavik was beautiful. Definitely one of those places you're not going to go to unless you're on this ship working for this cruise line with some of the best people out there.

What a beautiful morning. Cold, but beautiful.

[009] Home Sweet Home

Nova Scotia's stunning and the ship has never looked so good. I have to admit I missed it. Wandering the decks of the Freedom didn't have quite the same relaxing feel.

Good to be home.

[008]

It's somewhat refreshing how routine gets going once you get settled. How everything's different and yet remains the same.

One thing? I miss my walks around the decks. The layout is the same, the steps just seem that little bit off. Maybe not everything remains the same.

[007] General bitching

Out of the clinic, packed and now on a plane to meet up with the Freedom. Lovely.

And not that I want need to add to the bitching, but able seaman? A glorified janitor with a side of painter.

I'm tired.

[006]

I love the wacky on this ship. I really do.

Jul. 14th, 2008

Airlie Gardens is seriously beating out the Carolina Opry in my mind in 'Things to Do' off the ship.

[004] Getting to know you...

Getting to know people on this ship is now one of my favorite past times.

[NOTE] Avoid harassing co-workers. They may file a complaint.

[003] Florida and Home

Back from a mini-vacation. I have to confess, I missed the ship. Did NOT miss Ft. Lauderdale.
